10 Lame Excuses That Put Motivation On Hold

Excuses are the the number one cause to the death of dreams. People will definitely give an excuse to themselves or someone else at some point in their life. And for many people, it may be that these excuses occur daily.

Do you give yourself lame excuses as to why you can’t do something?

If the answer to that question’s a reluctant ‘yes’, then this article may be just the wake up call you needed. I think everyone will spot at least 2 excuses on here that they’ve perhaps told themselves before. Can you guess what they are before I begin?

Below are 10 lame excuses that kill motivation and put your motivation on hold.

1) I’m Too Tired

Number 1 on the list the excuse of ‘I’m too tired’. Have you ever told yourself that you’re too tired to do something? It’s the case for pretty much every lazy person in the world, who will do what they have to do, even when they’re tired. But when they actually want to start doing something, they are too tired to start.

It’s not really the fact that they’re too tired to do something on that day; it’s the fact that they’re simply putting off starting whatever it is they want to do, because they know they will fail.

Those people are right. If their heart just isn’t in it enough, then of course they will fail. People won’t always say this excuse when they’re putting off starting something.

Sometimes they’ll have started, but slowly get bored or just want to give up all together; and that’s when the excuse of being too tired begins to pop into their head.

2) I Don’t Have Time

Joint first with being too tired, “I don’t have time” is one of the top lame excuses going. It’s true that you can’t do everything in one day, but you can always make time for the things that are important to you.

Do you find that you use this excuse quite often, but still only wake up in the morning when you have to, and go to sleep as soon as you’re tired? If you woke up just 1 hour earlier, or went to bed 1 hour later, would you still be telling yourself that you don’t have time?

So many of us will waste time, either looking at Facebook or sitting around watching T.V, and yet still tell ourselves that we don’t have the time in the day to work on our dreams or our passions. If you were really that bothered, then you’d be wanting to get up earlier, or stop lazing around all the time.

3) I Can’t Do it

The fear of not being able to do something stops many people before they’ve even started, which is the worst possible thing that could happen. We all have doubts that we might be unable to do something, but the thing is, you will never know until you have actually pushed yourself to the limits.

Don’t let fear cripple you. You only live once, so believe in yourself and go after what you want.

4) I Can’t Afford it

This is a very interesting excuse, as somethings that you want to do and have in your life, you won’t be able to afford right now. That’s the point.

The point of having a dream is to strive for something you wish to have in the future. You won’t be able to afford it right now, but you don’t need to be able to in order to get started.

You can always begin somewhere, or start planning whilst saving, if you’re type of dream is one that will normally take you a little money to get up and running.

5) People Will Think I’m Weird

I used to tell myself this a lot of the time. I always thought that people might think what I was doing was weird, not normal or very unusual for myself and the groups of people I hang with.

Needless to say, I’ve learnt not to care too much about what others think and to just to what makes me happy, and be proud of it. Which is exactly what you should do. Don’t live your life in fear of what people may think of you. Just do what you love and share it with the world.

6) I’m Not Qualified

Number 6 of the lame excuses you tell yourself, is the excuse of not being qualified, It’s definitely a poor excuse, however the reasoning behind it will differ on what sort of career you’re after.

From an entrepreneurial point of view, you never need qualifications to become and entrepreneur. It’s not about being qualified. It’s about trying again and again, learning from your failures and becoming experienced to produce the best results.

However, many jobs do require qualifications, and in that case if you find yourself saying ‘I’m not qualified’, then why is that? If you need a qualification then work towards it!

7) There’s Always Tomorrow

There’s only going to be so many tomorrows in your life time. Can you really afford to waste another day on this excuse?

You now that starting tomorrow is going to have a smaller advantage than starting today, and if you’re happy to tell yourself that ‘there’s always tomorrow’ now, then it’s likely you’ll have no problem doing so again in the future.

“But they’ll always be tomorrow. Oh no, there’s no guarantees you’re gonna show up tomorrow. There were a lot of people who were around yesterday, but they’re not here today. There were a lot of opportunities here yesterday, they’re not here today.”

8) I’m Too Old

A lot of people think they are too old to achieve their dreams, and that it’s too late for them to begin working towards them. The truth is that no matter how old you are, it’s never too late to do something you love, or work towards your dreams.

Age is just a number and not a limit on what you can potentially achieve.

9) I’d Have no Idea Where to Start

We’ve all been there at some point or another. We’re not quite sure where to actually start and get the ball rolling. It can be difficult to know what to do when beginning on something new, but you shouldn’t let that put you off.

The general thoughts are that you start small, and work your way up, so the less you actually know, then perhaps the smaller you should start to begin with.

Try researching the subject in question on Google. There’s plenty of people who have been in your position before, and just taking in their knowledge can give you a better sense of direction.

10) It’s Not the Perfect Time

There is never going to be a perfect time to do what you want to do. You just have to make it the perfect time, by actually starting something and putting 100% of your effort into it.

People who wait for the perfect time never start working towards their dreams. Life just sort of passes them by, and 20 years down the line they will be saying exactly the same thing they did before.

CREATE the perfect time, don’t wait for it!
