Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been associated with student activism for many years.Since 28 October 2019, students of JNU has been protesting against the fee hike, even the students boycotted final semester examinations.
An attack started in the campus of JNU on 5th January 2020 ,when around 50 teachers and 200 students were holding a meeting to discus their opposition to the increase in hostel fees. The attack has been associated by some as a way to prevent students from raising their voice against the fee hike and CAA.At around 7PM, a masked mob consisting of dozens of people and at least one woman armed with iron rods, sledge hammers, sticks and bricks attached the JNU and injured more than 35 students and teachers.Recently, Deepika Padukone also Visited JNU and stood with all the JNUSU protestors.
The Delhi police on Monday 13th Jan questioned Aishe Ghosh and two others in connection with violence at university on Jan 5. The Crime Branch, which is investigating JNU violence, had on 10 Jan Friday released the photographs of nine suspects, including AISHe GHOSH, who is the JNU Students Union President and was also badly injured in a brutal attack. She said that whatever is going on in Kashmir cannot be forgotten. “Hum is ladai main Kashmir ka peechha aur unki baat nahi bhul skte. Unke sath jo ho raha hai, kahin na kahin wahin se is sarkar ne shuru kiya tha ki hamare samvidhan ko humse cheena gaya”.
Few Questions which comes in everyone’s mind are
- She is a student of JNU, then why is she raising questions, when it is not her topic to discuss?
- Why are the students playing politics in their universities? They are here to study.
- Why are they attacking on other students and faculties?
- Students are the future of nation, if they will commit such acts, then what will be the future of country?
