Babar Ali-The Youngest Headmaster in the World

“Education dispels darkness. It’s the way to a better life around here”

Do you recall your school life when you were eight or nine years old? I don’t! For most of us, a day begin early in the morning, trying to rub the eyes while waiting to board the school bus, attending the class where teachers used to reveal about many wonderful things in the world which were tedious for us, spending most of the time with friends in playground. After school hours we were forced by our mothers to take our afternoon nap, “Finishing up the homework”, “Finish up meal” and “Go to bed”

But 23-year-old young man Babar Ali (son of a jute trader), from a village in West Bengal was something else at this age. Inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and his selfless service to humanity. He started an institute, Ananda Siksha Niketan in his backyard and begins educating with 8 students when he was just 9-years-old.He educated more than 3,000 children in the last 14 years in a school.

Babar Ali is hailed as the youngest headmaster in the world. His goal is to fight against poverty through education.

Babar used to concentrate on the lesson taught by his teachers in school with wondrous eyes grasping as much knowledge as he could, and rush back home to impart it to the underprivileged kids. Babar travelled to Europe and Singapore to deliver many such speeches.

In 2005, he was promoted by Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen to Shantiniketan, the prestigious institute founded by Rabindranath Tagore to express about his school.
