Shining Kabaddi star Kavita Devi is a real example of an inspiration to all the girls in India. She is making India proud at the world stage. The shining star needs no introduction who bagged the Gold Medal for India by participating in 17th Asian Games in South Korea. Along with that Government announced a cash prize of 20 lakhs for the winner.

Looking at her background and till now journey. A simple unknown girl from Manali (Himachal Pradesh) has now a celebrity of Indian Kabaddi team. The 24 years old is National level Kabaddi player on her own willpower and efforts has been exemplary for the women force who has created a place for her in Indian Kabaddi team.

She covered the journey herself from sweeping floors in her father tea stall to hosting the Indian flag in Asian Games. Kavita hails from a family where both the parents run a Dhaba in Jagatsukh village in Manali and hardly earns to run up daily meeting expenses.

Been through a rough childhood and teenage where she supported her parents to sell tea and snacks. She has to do everything from sweeping the floor until doing the odd job of washing the dirty utensils. The situations were so miserable that they didn’t have enough money to buy the mattresses and they have to sleep on the floors along with her elder sister and a younger brother. Believe how hard it could be to sleep on the floor in Manali winter times.

But leaving all these odd behind Kavita come up with a passion of Kabaddi which she used to play in her school. She turned this passion into profession. She opted Kabaddi in school as it was not a costly sports activity, where her elder sister was a better player but could not chase her dreams to support parents in running out the Dhaba.

Kavita continued to persevere and her consistent performance took her to National levels. She herself make the doors open at the Asian Games where she gets recognition and financial support to make her family and India proud. She has really been an example of “Everything is possible if you have passion”.
