THAPPAD is not an answer to KABIR SINGH says Taapsee Pannu

The trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s forthcoming film Thappad released on Friday 31st January, and it got a big shout out from the actress fans on Twitter.

A section of the Internet has pointed out that Thappad Is an answer to Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh that did massive collection at the box office despite planned by critics for its toxic and misogynistic view of love.

During a recent media interaction, Taapsee clarified that Thappad hasn’t been made as an answer to Kabir Singh. Taapsee reported news agency IANS,” It’s not that we have made this film keeping Kabir Singh in mind. I feel very sad when I hear people saying that ‘ we have made a film to give an answer to another film’. This film was written before the release of Kabir Singh. I feel the Thappad (slap) is only a trigger, but there are so many other things that will unfold about relationship in this film.”

During media interaction, Taapsee stated that, “I agree to the fact that there was one instance in that film that doesn’t match with the ideology of our film, but didn’t it happen in many earlier films? There are thousands of film where women have been slapped by men and what’s the new about it?”

Taapsee added she would have never done a film like “ Kabir Singh “.

“I feel people shouldn’t leave their brain at home while watching a film. Kabir Singh collected a lot of money and I congratulate the makers of that film, but I wouldn’t have done that film had I been offered Kabir Singh’s part and obviously, I would have never done the girl’s part.”

Thappad, also featuring Pavail Gulati, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Kumud Mishra and Manav Kaul, has been directed by Anubhav Sinha, who previously collab with Taapsee on Mulk.

The film is schedule to hit the theaters on February 28.
